COLORADO – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper announced that the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance (GMDMA) endorsed his 2026 Senate re-election campaign.
“It’s been an honor to work with the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance for more than a decade. We reformed Denver’s Police Department to create more accountability and worked together to strengthen our community,” said Hickenlooper. “I’m grateful to stand united with the Alliance as we fight to protect Americans’ sacred right to vote and defend Colorado from Trump.”

GMDMA is a coalition made up of local pastors, churches, and faith-based organizations that has served as a voice of hope and social justice in the African American community since the 1940s.
Leading Colorado voices, national progressive groups, and labor organizations have also announced support for Hickenlooper’s reelection. He’s backed by Pipefitters Local 208, the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Association (CPFF), SMART Sheet Metal Workers Local 9, AFSCME, Western States Carpenters, Reproductive Freedom for All, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NRDC Action, Brady PAC, GIFFORDS PAC, End Citizens United and Let America Vote, League of Conservation Voters Action Fund and Conservation Colorado, and 314 Action.
Hickenlooper co-sponsors key legislation to strengthen voting rights, including the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and the Freedom to Vote Act. Hickenlooper has been a vocal critic of Trump’s voter suppression bill, known as the SAVE America Act, which would disenfranchise millions of voters. He has also spoken out about the Supreme Court’s recent decision to undermine the Voting Rights Act. In the Senate, Hickenlooper also supports the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act and other efforts to ensure safer interactions with the police.
Hickenlooper has consistently pushed the federal government to follow Colorado’s lead and reform our federal cannabis laws. He believes we need to address the sentencing for people – often Black men – who have been imprisoned for nonviolent marijuana crimes.
In the Senate, Hickenlooper worked to secure increased investment for underfunded communities through his efforts on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, helping expand access to high-quality infrastructure, internet access, and health care in areas that have often been overlooked.
Hickenlooper raised nearly $1.4 million in the first quarter of 2026 and has more than $4 million cash on hand for his 2026 reelection campaign. Hickenlooper leads the other statewide candidates in Colorado as the only candidate to raise more than one million dollars each quarter since 2025. His campaign continues to receive strong grassroots support, with more than 80% of donations being $25 or less.
