League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund supports environmental champions who fight to address climate change
Hickenlooper helped negotiate the largest investment to combat climate change ever, continues to fight to protect our environment
Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper announced the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund’s endorsement of his 2026 reelection campaign. LCV Action Fund works to elect candidates who will fight to build a clean energy economy and strengthen our democracy for all.
“Increasing wildfires, worsening droughts, and growing pollution mean we don’t have time to let up on our fight against climate change,” said Hickenlooper. “We need a Congress – and a President – who will address climate change, actually lower energy prices, and safeguard our public lands. These are desperate times, and the League is one of our strongest allies! We are proud to fight beside them.”
“John helped pass the single largest bill to combat climate change, rallied our coalition to defeat Trump’s attempt to sell off our public lands, and is defending investments in clean energy from the Trump administration’s senseless attacks,” said Kelly Nordini, CEO of Conservation Colorado.
“It’s more critical than ever to have climate champions fighting to protect people and the planet in Congress,” said Tiernan Sittenfeld, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs of LCV Action Fund. “When Coloradans sent John to Washington, they counted on him to draw on his experience and leadership to protect our clean air, water, and public lands – and he delivered. John is the fighter we need to safeguard Colorado and protect our environment, our communities, and our future generations.”
LCV Action Fund previously endorsed Hickenlooper in 2020 when he ran to flip Colorado’s seat Blue. Hickenlooper also recently received endorsements from 314 Action, which works to elect Democrats with backgrounds in science, and GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Hickenlooper has long pushed for real, science-based climate policy. He played a key role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which was the largest climate investment ever, and is fighting against Washington Republicans’ attempts to undermine the law. He helped create a public campaign to successfully defeat Senate Republicans’ plan to sell off public land to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and is working to prevent any future efforts. As Colorado governor, he created the world’s first methane rules, which were later used as a national model by the Obama administration.
LCV Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 101 U.S. Senators and 511 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
