Today, John Hickenlooper visited Pueblo and celebrated Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel’s decision to start construction on a new mill, creating a thousand good-paying jobs and contributing to Pueblo’s local economy. As Governor, Hickenlooper worked with Senate President Leroy Garcia and state Representative Daneya Esgar to help make this happen.
This announcement makes clearer than ever the contrast between Hickenlooper’s leadership and ability to solve problems to create jobs and the dysfunction in Washington that has failed to deliver COVID relief for the Colorado families, schools, and small businesses who need it.
“In the middle of this pandemic, it’s nice to have some good news,” said Hickenlooper. “This steel mill is one of the top economic drivers of Pueblo and the first in the country powered by solar energy. It’s been here for generations, and we need to make sure it’s here for generations to come. I am so excited that the work I did as Governor with Senate President Leroy Garcia and state Representative Daneya Esgar has finally come together. We are bringing a thousand good-paying jobs to Pueblo and making sure that Pueblo remains the Steel City for years to come. And we’re just getting started.”
