U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper released the following statement celebrating the strong 2025 election results in Colorado and across the country.
“Congratulations to governors-elect Sherrill and Spanberger; and mayors-elect Mamdani, Carmelia, and Sweetland. They – and so many other candidates in Colorado and across the country – dealt Trump huge losses tonight.
“They also sent a powerful message: When Democrats are focused on lowering costs for working people and united in the fight against MAGA, we win. Let’s move forward, together, to victory in 2026.”
Mikie Sherrill won her race to be governor of New Jersey. Abigail Spanberger flipped the governor’s office in Virginia and will be their first female governor. Zohran Mamdani won his bid to be mayor of New York City.
In Colorado, Claire Carmelia was successfully elected mayor of Westminster, and Christine Sweetland won her race to become mayor of Centennial.
