Hickenlooper Launches Two New Ads, Highlighting Progress on Health Care, Climate Change, and Choice

Today, Hickenlooper for Colorado released two new TV ads. The first ad, titled “Heart,” showcases John’s record of delivering for Colorado on everything from health care and climate change to reproductive freedom and police reform.

The second ad, titled “Worked,” calls out Washington Republicans’ attacks on reproductive rights and highlights John’s record of expanding access to contraception in Colorado.

“As Governor, we expanded access to affordable health care, took action on climate change and fought for reproductive freedom,” said Hickenlooper. “I’m ready to fight for those same bold policies in the United States Senate.”

Transcript for “Heart:”

NARRATOR: How do you make progress? You work your heart out.

As Governor, John Hickenlooper got two coal plants shut down, replaced with wind and solar. New health coverage for 500,000 more Coloradans. Free long term contraception for women. Body cameras and strict transparency for police.

And John Hickenlooper committed Colorado to the Paris Climate Accord, when Donald Trump dropped out.

This is a moment for big change. He’ll be a Senator who delivers.

HICKENLOOPER: I’m John Hickenlooper and I approve this ad.

Transcript for “Worked:”

NARRATOR: While Republicans work to restrict women’s reproductive rights, John Hickenlooper expanded access to contraception.

As Governor, he started a first in the nation program, providing tens of thousands of IUDs to public health clinics all over the state.

RACHEL MADDOW: “And boy howdy did it work.”

HICKENLOOPER: “We expanded women’s access to IUDs… It’s a fundamental, inalienable right that women should have control of their own bodies.”

I’m John Hickenlooper and I approve this message.
