Hickenlooper Drops First Streaming, Digital Ad of Senate Reelection

This is me” touts Hickenlooper’s strong record fighting for Colorado as Mayor, Governor, and Senator

COLORADO – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper’s reelection campaign released their first streaming and digital ad, “This is me,” to highlight Hickenlooper’s impressive record fighting for Coloradans as Mayor of Denver, Governor, and now Senator.

“Colorado is no stranger to taking on big fights – and winning. That’s what our ad is about,” said Hickenlooper. “Together we turned our economy around, expanded health care, and fought climate change. Now, we’re fighting Donald Trump’s cruelty and turning the page on his chaos.”

John has spent his career serving Colorado. After being laid off as a geologist, he started Colorado’s first brewpub – the Wynkoop. John was elected Mayor of Denver in 2003 and helped turn the city around during the Great Recession. He expanded public transportation, growing the RTD light-rail system, FasTracks, that connects Denver and the surrounding cities.

In 2011, Colorado elected John to be governor – only the second time in Colorado’s history a Denver Mayor was elected governor. As governor, John expanded health care to 500,000 Coloradans and improved access to birth control. He took on the NRA and helped create universal background checks and bans on high capacity magazines after the horrific Aurora movie theater shooting. John created the country’s first methane emissions regulations and added protections for millions of acres of Colorado’s public lands.

In 2020, John defeated Cory Gardner and flipped the Senate. In the Senate, John rolled up his sleeves to address climate change, bring down costs for Colorado families, and force corporations to pay their fair share. He helped negotiate and write the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the largest investment in fighting climate change – EVER! He secured billions for Colorado to make housing more attainable, lower the cost of drugs for seniors, address the Colorado River crisis, and fight wildfires.

Now, he’s fighting back against Trump’s attacks.

John helped stop Trump’s public lands sell off and has been fighting to defend American science from the administration’s constant attacks. He’s stood up to Trump’s violent immigration police. He has refused to fund ICE, shown up at ICE facilities for oversight visits, and helped Coloradans who are detained. John has helped introduce legislation to force their agents to take off their masks and protect schools, hospitals, and places of worship from raids.

John’s fighting to bring down costs and stop Trump’s cost-of-living emergency. He has voted against the president’s unwanted war with Iran that’s increasing prices and is working to get Americans refunds from Trump’s illegal tariff-taxes.

His campaign has more than $4 million cash on hand for his 2026 reelection campaign, after raising more than one million each quarter since 2025. His campaign continues to receive strong grassroots support, with more than 80% of donations being $25 or less.
