Hickenlooper Decries Gardner’s Silence As Anti-Public Lands Pendley Continues to Lead BLM

Trump Administration Withdrew Nomination So Gardner Could Avoid a Vote — But Pendley Remains in Charge of Colorado’s Public Lands

John Hickenlooper released the following statement on news that the Trump administration has withdrawn William Perry Pendley’s formal nomination to lead the Bureau of Land Management, but will keep the anti-public lands zealot in charge in an unconfirmed capacity:

“William Perry Pendley doesn’t believe public lands should exist, but he’s been in charge of our public lands for a year. And now, thanks to Donald Trump’s latest stunt, Senator Cory Gardner can avoid taking a vote on his nomination. That’s outrageous.

“Senator Gardner didn’t speak out against Pendley’s racism, his climate denial, or his support for selling off EVERY SINGLE ACRE of Colorado’s public lands. Cory Gardner hasn’t said a peep this whole time. He’s been silent and failed to stand up for Colorado.

“Colorado’s public lands are part of our way of life. This should be an easy one. But Senator Gardner failed Colorado, again. I promise to always put Colorado first.”
