John Hickenlooper released the following statement after several outlets confirmed The Atlantic’s reporting on President Trump’s disrespectful remarks about fallen American troops, describing them as “losers” and “suckers.”
“Trump’s comments are a horrible insult to our brave men and women in uniform, veterans, fallen soldiers, and Gold Star families. Respecting our service members and their families is the lowest possible bar for any Commander in Chief. It’s a sad statement that this president still can’t clear it.
“Colorado is home to nearly 50,000 military families, yet time and time again Senator Cory Gardner has stood idly by while Trump denigrates our military. He said nothing when Trump raided Peterson Air Force Base for his border wall. And he’s silent now. Cory Gardner’s cowardly silence is deafening.”
