“The Climb” touts Hickenlooper’s work defending our public lands, fighting ICE’s lawlessness, making housing more affordable
COLORADO – Today, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper’s reelection campaign announced their latest streaming and digital ad, “The Climb,” that highlights Hickenlooper’s work to stop Trump from auctioning our public lands, protect Colorado from ICE’s abuses, and ban Wall Street banks from driving up the cost of housing.
“Trump is targeting Colorado, but we’re not afraid of a fight,” said Hickenlooper. “We’ve stopped Trump’s sell off of our public lands. We’re fighting to protect Coloradans from ICE’s lawlessness and to bring down the cost of housing. We’re not turning back.”

Last summer, when Trump and MAGA Republicans proposed selling off more than three million acres of public lands to fund the lavish lives of the Epstein Class, Hickenlooper fought the proposal and successfully got the provision stripped from legislation. Hickenlooper was also the first senator to publicly oppose Trump’s pick to lead the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Steve Pearce, who openly supports public lands sales.
Hickenlooper has fought the expansion and practices of ICE and has called for a complete overhaul of the agency. He has repeatedly shown up to ICE detention facilities in Colorado for congressional oversight visits. He helped secure the release of multiple Coloradans detained by ICE, including two teenage girls who were held in the Aurora ICE facility for months.
He also launched a formal inquiry into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for obstructing congressional oversight into these facilities. He actively intervenes on behalf of Coloradans wrongfully and inhumanely detained by ICE, including two young sisters with active asylum claims and no criminal records. He also called out ICE’s cruel use of “death cards” found in Colorado with the address and phone number of the Aurora ICE detention facility.
And as Senator, Hickenlooper has worked tirelessly to bring affordability back to Colorado. He was instrumental in passing and negotiating the Inflation Reduction Act, jumpstarting Colorado’s clean energy potential, creating thousands of high-paying jobs, lowering health care costs, and addressing our deficit by making wealthy corporations pay their fair share. He also helped pass the ROAD to Housing Act, which addresses the national affordable housing shortage through preventing corporations from dominating the housing market.
Hickenlooper continues fighting for the rights of Coloradans and the democracy that holds our country together.
His campaign has more than $4 million cash on hand for his 2026 reelection campaign, after raising more than one million each quarter since 2025. His campaign continues to receive strong grassroots support, with more than 80% of donations being $25 or less.
