Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance Endorses John Hickenlooper for U.S. Senate

Today, the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance announced their support of John Hickenlooper’s campaign for United States Senate. Since the 1940’s, the organization has been a vital part of the Denver community, fighting for progressive values and against social injustices.

“As the president of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance, it’s my pleasure to announce our support of John Hickenlooper for US Senate,” said Bishop Jerry Demmer, President of Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance and Pastor at Absolute Word Church. “He is a proven leader and has consistently partnered with the Ministerial Alliance to solve and discuss hard problems like health care, gun violence, and police brutality. He has the vision we need to move our nation and state forward.”

“As founder of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance and one of the oldest black pastors in the state, I’m proud to stand side by side with John Hickenlooper,” said Bishop Acen Phillips, Founder of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance. “As a freedom fighter, I walked and marched with Martin Luther King Jr., working for justice and equality. I endorsed and walked with John when he ran for Mayor of Denver, Governor of our great state, and now. We need John in the Senate; we can’t afford another 4 years of more inequity in our schools, health, and prison system. It’s time to flip the Senate and elect leaders who have a track record of lifting everyone up. That is John Hickenlooper. We look forward to working side by side with him again in the near future as our next US Senator for Colorado.”

“Former Governor John Hickenlooper has a proven record of standing up for Colorado families, especially victims of crime,” said Dr. Marjorie Lewis, a member of the Alliance. “As a minister and psychologist, I’m proud to stand with him and his commitment to the healing, growth and recovery of the African American community.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Greater Metro Denver Ministerial Alliance, a longstanding pillar of the Denver community,” said John Hickenlooper. “I sincerely appreciate their steadfast support, partnership, friendship, and guidance over the past two decades. Together, we worked to implement some of the first-of-its-kind police reform and other important initiatives in our city and state. If elected to the Senate, I will continue to rely on their wisdom to deliver the change we need.”
