Please see below for a forwarded press release from Colorado AFL-CIO and a quote from John Hickenlooper.
“I’m grateful and proud to stand with the hardworking members of the AFL-CIO,” said Hickenlooper. “Unions built America’s middle class, and they will be critical in rebuilding our economy as we emerge from the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunately, a broken Washington has undermined economic security for working families and collective bargaining rights. In the Senate, I will fight to give working families the raise they deserve and support efforts to get our nation back to work after this crisis.”
DENVER – The working men and women of the Colorado AFL-CIO have endorsed John Hickenlooper for US Senate because he has committed to fight for a better life for the people of Colorado who count on a paycheck to live.
“We have looked hard at the candidates for US Senate in Colorado, and Colorado’s working people have concluded that John Hickenlooper is the best bet to win office and to make the changes we want for all of Colorado’s working people,” said Josette Jaramillo, who works as a social worker and serves as President of the Colorado AFL-CIO and is a member of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees. “Working people across the state must have access to good jobs, fair pay, and the chance to join a union if we want one.”
“We have been impressed by the hard work exhibited by John’s campaign,” said Dennis Dougherty, Executive Director of the Colorado AFL-CIO. “He has put in the effort listening to working people in Colorado. Plus, he has never lost a race. Working families want a champion, which Cory Gardner has demonstrated he is not. We’re ready to roll up our sleeves and help ensure John Hickenlooper is Colorado’s next Senator.”
The Colorado AFL-CIO is the state federation made up of 185 labor unions with more than 180,000 union members and working families in both the public and private sectors. Our mission is to help more families enjoy the positive and transformative benefits of a union on the job, to educate our members and the working public about the importance of good jobs, and to stand together for justice, dignity and equality in every aspect of life in our communities, Colorado and our nation.
