Today, with less than two weeks until Coloradans receive their ballots, Senator Cory Gardner is slated to be one of the first senators to meet with President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.
John Hickenlooper released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and Cory Gardner are jamming through a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court as people are already voting instead of allowing the voters to make our voices heard. The next Supreme Court Justice will decide whether or not to repeal the Affordable Care Act and strip away protections for Coloradans with pre-existing conditions, and whether to uphold Roe v. Wade and the right to choose. This is Washington at its worst.”
In 2016, Gardner said — 9 months before the election — that it would be too close to an election to nominate a Supreme Court Justice and the American people’s voice should be heard. Last week, just hours after pressure from President Trump, he broke his own commitment.
