Hickenlooper for Colorado released a new TV ad titled “Real Integrity” today featuring retired Denver Fire Chief and former Colorado Homeland Security Director Larry Trujillo. In the ad, Trujillo speaks to John Hickenlooper’s character and support for first responders, especially after 9/11. Trujillo denounces the false attacks against Hickenlooper and shames Senator Cory Gardner’s allies for exploiting 9/11 in their political smear campaign.

The guy that’s always had our backs was John Hickenlooper.
John, he did everything he could to help first responders, especially in the years after 9/11.
So when I see the ads from Cory Gardner’s allies attacking John Hickenlooper about 9/11, it makes me sick. It’s just a lousy smear campaign.
I know John Hickenlooper. He’s a great guy with real integrity.

As a reminder, there is no 9/11 fund – that’s a lie by Republican operatives. The fund referenced in their false smears is leftover ‘state fiscal relief’ from a 2003 federal law. This fund has been used by every Governor since then, Republican and Democrat, on state expenses.
