Hickenlooper Earns Endorsement From Carpenters Union - John Hickenlooper for U.S. Senate

Hickenlooper Earns Endorsement From Carpenters Union

Last night, The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, representing more than 1,800 carpenters across Colorado, announced their endorsement of John Hickenlooper.

As a small business owner, Hickenlooper understands the challenges and opportunities of our new economy and appreciates the importance of skills training and certified apprenticeship programs to help workers and businesses achieve success.

As governor, Hickenlooper expanded skills training to thousands of Coloradans and moved the state’s economy from 40th in job creation to the number one economy in the country. In the U.S. Senate, Hickenlooper will push to expand technical and vocational training and certified apprenticeship programs so that more people can get the skills they need to earn a decent living in the new economy.

“I am honored to earn the support of  Colorado’s Carpenters, and look forward to fighting alongside them on behalf of our state’s working families in the U.S. Senate.” said Hickenlooper. “For the Carpenters, it’s not about party, or ideology, it’s about getting things done and building things. It’s time for a Senator who values Carpenter Economics: that means rebuilding our airports, mass transit, schools, and transportation infrastructure, like we did regionally here when we built FasTracks. I will always support working people, support a union’s right to organize, and protect their health care.”

“Throughout his career, John Hickenlooper has stood with workers as an essential partner in the fight to ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, benefits and retirement security, for both workers and their families,” said Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters Executive Secretary-Treasurer Dan Langford. “In the face of unprecedented attacks on unions and the middle class, we need a champion in the United States Senate like John to stand up for working families.”
