Hickenlooper: With Colorado Families & Businesses Struggling, Senate Needs to Get Back to Work on Coronavirus Relief

Senate goes on two week vacation as Coronavirus cases are on the rise

Today, John Hickenlooper called on both Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to end the scheduled two-week recess and return to work to pass urgent relief for Colorado families and small businesses.

“Only Washington would take a two-week vacation when hundreds of thousands of Coloradans and tens of millions of Americans are without work and Coronavirus cases are on the rise. As families try to pay their mortgages and rent, as state and local governments struggle to provide essential services, and as our health care system shoulders an increasingly dangerous burden it’s unacceptable that the U.S. Senate wouldn’t be working around the clock to help.

“Americans are fed up with the political posturing that has left Washington broken and dysfunctional. The stakes are just too high. People need help. Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer should bring the Senate back and get to work delivering relief for the millions of Americans who desperately need it.”
