Hickenlooper Statement on Trump Administration’s Latest Anti-Science Announcement

“I hope that Senator Gardner, the Chair of the Science Subcommittee, will speak out loudly—and soon—against this dangerous development.”

Today, in response to the news that the Trump Administration would be severely limiting the role of science in the EPA’s decision-making process, John Hickenlooper released the following statement calling on Cory Gardner, the Chair of the Senate’s Science Subcommittee to speak out:

“This latest Trump Administration announcement dramatically limits the role of science in the EPA’s decision-making process and will do serious harm to public health and our environment. I hope that Senator Gardner, the Chair of the Science Subcommittee, will speak out loudly—and soon—against this dangerous development.”

Last month, Hickenlooper released a bold climate plan to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. As Governor of Colorado and Mayor of Denver, he made Colorado a leader in combatting climate change by, among other efforts, enacting methane regulations that became a model for the nation and bringing mayors together to create the region’s first light rail system.
