Hickenlooper Statement on Future of Roe v. Wade

U.S. Supreme Court Risks Colorado Women’s Access to Health Care

As the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments on a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade — the first since Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation cemented an anti-choice majority — John Hickenlooper released the following statement reaffirming his commitment to reproductive justice:

“Make no mistake: Coloradans’ reproductive freedom is on the line thanks to Washington Republicans’ support for rigid anti-choice judges. This Supreme Court decision could mean the beginning of an end to Roe v. Wade — letting states make abortion illegal and even throw doctors in jail. Coloradans have said again and again that we don’t want politicians to interfere in these very personal decisions that are between a woman and her doctor. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll keep fighting to protect the right to choose — and stand up to all who want to take us backwards.”

Hickenlooper has been endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice America, which praised his record of expanding access to reproductive health care in Colorado.
