Hickenlooper Calls For Colorado’s Successful Vote By Mail Program To Be National Model On MSNBC

“I’m on the side of making it easier to vote for everybody.”

On Saturday and Sunday, John Hickenlooper joined MSNBC’s Ali Velshi and Alicia Menendez to discuss the urgent need for vote by mail across the United States after Wisconsin’s disastrous election last week. These appearances come on the heels of an op-ed John penned in the Washington Post calling for Colorado’s vote by mail system to serve as a national model so everyone can exercise their right to vote without sacrificing public health.

While pushing back on President Trump’s misinformation, John shared Colorado’s experience with strong ballot security to prevent fraud, increased voter turnout, and saving taxpayer money through vote by mail.

“You can get more people to vote and increase turnout. You can do it in a way that is safe and secure. But most importantly, with Covid-19, we’re not sure where we will be in November, but this is a way everyone can vote.”

“…it’s not just vote by mail, it’s also getting more people registered to vote. We’re a democracy, and I think every American should care about more people voting. And I’m on the side of making it easier to vote for everybody.”

Also, on Friday night, John joined MSNBC’s The Last Word to recognize the continuing leadership of governors during this crisis as the federal government plays politics with public health. Watch HERE.
